As part of the <br />project, the city and school district have agreed to exchange property as part of a boundary line <br />adjustment to create a larger parcel that will accommodate the larger building. <br /> <br />State statute 462.356, subd. 2 requires that publicly owned <br />property shall not be acquired or disposed of unless the <br />Planning Commission has found the proposal to be <br />consistent with the city’s Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />The Comprehensive Plan identifies the property for <br />Public/Institutional uses, and an excerpt of the land use <br />plan is shown on the right. This category includes larger <br />tracts of land used primarily for public and institutional <br />uses. City Hall, the fairgrounds, and the county courthouse <br />are also guided for Public/Institutional uses. <br /> <br />In staff’s review of the project, the proposed land exchange is consistent with the Comprehensive Plan as <br />the proposed uses will be consistent with the current use, and both should be considered Public/ <br />Institutional uses of the property. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> Land Use Map <br /> Land Exchange Exhibits <br /> Resolution
