<br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br />TOWN OF ELK RIVER <br />March 12, 1957 <br /> <br /> <br />The annual township meeting was called to order by Clerk Everett Rathbun. <br /> <br />A L Powell was appointed Moderator to preside during the meeting. The treasurer gave his report <br />for 1956. The books showed that the township was still in the black after paying gopher bounties <br />which was unexpected. The treasurers repord \[sic\] was accepted Moved by Ernest Palmer & <br />seconded by Orville Bernard. <br /> <br />The matter of wheather \[sic\] the town should sign a contract with the village on fire protection was <br />brought up. It was moved by Orville Bernard and seconded by Everett Spect \[sic\] that the town <br />signs such an agreement with Village Carried. <br /> <br />It was moved by Everett Specht that $1000.00 be appropriated for fire protection. Seconded by A L <br />Powell. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The gopher bounty budget was brought up and was moved that the town pay bounties on gophers <br />again in 1957. The motion was Seconded. and carried. It was moved that One thousand dollars <br />$1000.00 be appropriated for gopher bounty. Clarence Mordal moved that $3000.00 be raised for <br />Road and Bridge Seconded by Ernest Palmer. The motion carried. <br /> <br />The County will pay half on gopher bounty from April first to November first. <br /> <br />The motion was made that the annual meeting be held at the Court house from the hours of 10.00 <br />A.M. o’clock till 4 o’clock P.M. for Next Year.
