ITEM 5.9.
c
MEMORANDUM
ty of
Elk1' TO: Planning Commission
Rover
FROM: Scott Harlicker, Planning Assistan r,
DATE: April 22, 1997
SUBJECT: City of Elk River Request for
Ordinance Amendment Regulating
Telecommunications Towers and
and Antennas, Public Hearing Case
No. OA 97-7
Request
Consider a request by the City of Elk River for an ordinance amendment
regulating telecommunications towers and antennas.
Attachments
• Ordinance No. 97-
Section 900.18 Schedule of dimensional regulations
Overview
At the march 25, 1997 Planning Commission meeting the Commission
discussed the draft ordinance amendment regarding telecommunication
towers and antennas. Several changes were suggested and those suggestions
were addressed in this version of the proposed amendment.
• Maximum height
It was suggested that a maximum height be set at 200 feet. This height could
only be reached by providing additional locations on the tower for co-location
opportunities. The maximum height for a tower with accommodations for 2
additional users is 150 feet. For every additional user over 2, the tower's
height can be increased by 25 feet. Therefore, for a tower to be able to be
constructed to a height of 200 feet it would have to be able to accommodate 4
additional users.
• Lot size
•
13065 Orono Parkway • P.O. Box 490 • Elk River, MN 55330 • (612) 441-7420 • Fax: (612) 441-7425
