CU 94-3 <br /> REQUESTED ACTION <br /> Elk River Municipal Utilities is requesting a conditional use permit to <br /> operate a new filtration plant and back wash pond at 18586 Gary Street . <br /> LOCATION <br /> • The new facility is located south of Highway 10 and immediately west of <br /> Gary Street (north of Orono Road). <br /> ATTACHMENTS <br /> Location Map, Zoning Map, Site Plan, List of Property Owners <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> A water filtration plant was constructed and completed this past summer. <br /> The building measures 32 feet by 48 feet (1,536 square feet) and is <br /> constructed of tip-up precast concrete panels. The buildings appearance will <br /> be similar to that building between UPA Drive and Highway 10 that is also <br /> utilized by Elk River Utilities. <br /> The buildings purpose is to house equipment for filtering iron and <br /> magnesium from the water supply. The iron and magnesium is then <br /> discharged through a 12 inch PVC pipe to a 10,000 square foot back wash <br /> pond located approximately 195 feet west of the filtration building. The pond <br /> collects the iron and magnesium sediment and is cleaned approximately <br /> • every 10 years. <br /> P.O.
