Eclty1� ,.,�� Request for Action <br /> River <br /> To Item Number <br /> Mayor and City Council 4.13 <br /> Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br /> Consent November 16, 2015 Troy Adams, P.E. —ERMU General Manager <br /> Item Description Reviewed by <br /> ERMU Commission Membership Expansion Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> Reviewed by <br /> Action Requested <br /> Approve,by motion, the proposed language for advancement through our local representative for special <br /> legislation pertaining to the Elk River Municipal Utilities (ERMU) Commission membership expansion. <br /> Background/Discussion <br /> On October 5,2015, the ERMU Commission proposed to the Council draft language for legislation that <br /> would allow for the expansion of utilities commission membership from three members to five. <br /> The City Council supported the expansion and requested that upon expansion the Council have flexibility <br /> to appoint up to two Council Members to the commission. Utilities staff worked with Minnesota <br /> Municipal Utilities Association (NIMUA) to revise the draft language for legislation to be consistent with <br /> Council direction. This modified language was then approved by the ERMU Commission on October 13, <br /> 2015. <br /> The ERMU Commission requests Council approval of the revised draft language for legislation.
