j
Elk = - Request for Action
River
To Item Number
Mayor and City Council 4.12
Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by
Consent June 1, 2015 Ron Nierenhausen, Police Chief
Item Description Reviewed by
Hire Two Part-Time Community Service Officers Cal Portner, City Administrator
Reviewed by
Lauren Wipper, HR Representative
Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Robert Pullar and Nicolas Albert to the position of part-time
Community Service Officer (CSO) beginning June 3, 2015.
Background/Discussion
The recent departure of Amy Berglund has left the CSO position vacant. It was approved at the April 6
meeting to hire two part-time CSOs in the vacancy of the one full-time position. This will allow the
department to gain eight additional hours of coverage and create an environment where the police
department can use the part-time positions as a proving ground for those who may be interested in future
police officer positions.
These positions are intended to end after two years, with a possible extension of one year depending on
the employee's education track.
Financial Impact
The full-time position is currently budgeted. Hiring two part-time CSOs at 24 hours per week would
amount to the same budgeted amount when benefits are included.
Attachments
■ N/A
p 0 W I R I a 0
NA UREJ
