Matt Ledvina
RE: Revised SDA Hydrogeologic Evaluation Report
i'ilk River Landfill, Inc.
the low water levels measured from 2000 to 2002. This analysis indicates that the
SDA water level data set is valid for establishing the base grade of the proposed
development.
4. Water elevation data depicted on the cross-sections often does not correspond to the
elevation data documented on many of the boring logs. Please provide an explanation,
in the narrative, on Izow the water elevation an the crass sections was determined.
Also provide an explanation on the inconsistencies between the water level on the
boring logs and those noted on the cross sections.
The groundwater surfaces illustrated the cross sections are based on the hydraulic
heads measured in the SDA mozutoring wells on August 22, 2004. The water levels on
the soil boring logs were recorded for completeness purposes only and do not represent
accurate water table or potentiometric surfaces due to a number of factors including the
use of water during drilling and sail sample extrusion.Suse revised sentence from
re ort. A discussion of the applicability of water levels on the boring logs is included
in Section 4.1.2.
5 - 10. Minor revisions
The minor revisions have been addressed. Additionally, information regarding site
preparation and survey control has been added to Appendix E to describe the methods
utilized during the investigations.
Ci oty-, f Elk River Email dated May I1, 2004
1. Page 7, Surface Water: Several statements are made concerning the surface water
management. It is indicated that the wetland in southwest portion of the site will not
be affected by the development of the site. The engineering design for the surface
water routing will result in a significant change in the hydraulics for the wetland area.
The affects on the wetland are unknown at this time. The significance of localized
:~ groundwater recharge from infiltration at the sedimentation ponds is unknown at this
tinge. It may be appropriate to assess impacts to the wetland area and groundwater
using a technical approach.
Prior to landfill development, the site will be mined for sand and gravel. The affects of
the sand and gravel mining on the wetland in the southwest corner of the site are
urilcnown at this time, thus it is difficultlnot possible to assess specific affects the
proposed development will have on the wetland. Jim - I would see whether or not
Wenclc has addressed these issues?

2. Page Y0, Water Well Survey: A comprehensive updated water well survey is
presented.
