Recommendations
Based on the data collected we recommend that for the intersection of Tyler and 193`a Avenue
Option 1, No change /Continue annual monitoring be selected and implemented. The
traffic count data does not support changing the traffic control in place currently.
The counts on 193` Avenue are higher than Tyler Street making 193`a Avenue the major
roadway in the analysis. The left turn movements on 193`d are protected with turn lanes
supporting 193`d as the major roadway at this intersection. The traffic volumes as recorded do
not reach the level required to consider amulti-way stop application at this time. From an
engineering perspective we can not recommend changes to the traffic control other than the
stop sign location and stop bar location modifications discussed and approved by the City
Council. It is possible in the future traffic volumes will reach a level that would warrant a
multi-way stop at this location.
For the intersection of Xavier and 193`d Avenue based on the data collected we recommend
Option 2, Add a Pedestrian Crossing of 193`d at Xavier be selected and implemented. The
traffic count data does not support changing the traffic control in place currently. The counts
on 193`d Avenue are higher than Xavier Street making 193`d Avenue the major roadway in the
analysis. The left turning movements on 193`d are protected with turn lanes supporting 193`d
as the major roadway at this intersection. The traffic volumes as recorded do not reach the
level required to consider amulti-way stop application at this time. The visibility at the
intersection is somewhat limited and motorists on 193`d Avenue may not expect pedestrians
crossing 193`d at this location. A pedestrian crossing signed and marked in this location will
help raise motorists' attention to the possibility of pedestrians in the area.
BDM Project # 226069
