This approach seems to be
using a sledgehammer to control sign placement where a velvet
hammer would be a more ;appropriate use. Ttre sign ordinance
already controls locati;~n of sign by separation requirements.
This control should be :sufficient.
Landowners are being.. unjustly penalized in the City of Elk
River because of this q~:~irk in the ordinance. We own land in
Pensacola, Fla., which rlas an off-site bi7.Lboard which is
considered a secondary :I:~e. We have friends in Minneapolis who
own land/buildings in c~hich off-site advertising is considered
a secondary use. We thick it is time for the City of Elk River
to control this advertising is a more reasonable manner.
I would like to suggest permiting the sign>~ to be a secondary use
of the property or to p-chaps create a "si~,n lot" which in the
case of a 2S foot high -ign might be SO feat in width to allow
for fall either way.
Please ccns' r this request within a reasonable time frame.
UNITED
STATES
NEW CONSTRUCTION & REMODELING ~~Q~~~~~
