Ach, City Planner~SG October 9, 1995 SUBJECT: Resignation of Gary Schmitz/Request to Advertise for Planning Assistant Position Last week Gary Schmitz informed me that he will be leaving the City of Elk River, effective October 20th, to pursue another career opportunity that has been presented to him. Gary's contributions to the City have covered many disciplines and will be greatly .missed. • Given the amount of time to advertise for the position,. screening the applications, interviewing those qualified candidates, and the fact that there are many holidays in the next couple months, I suspect it will be roughly January 2, 1996, before .Gary's replacement is on board. Given the amount of work that needs to be done, I wanted to get this position advertised as quickly as possible and begin the process to fill the Planning Assistant position. Therefore, I have enclosed for your review a copy of the Planning Assistant fob description. If the Council has questions, comments or concerns with the. position as it is proposed to be advertised, please let me know as soon as possible.. If I don't hear from the Council by Thursday I will proceed to advertise the position. The following is a tentative schedule that I would like to follow in order to fill this position as soon as possible.
