~~r ~~ <br />"ity of ~~ <br />lk • <br />R~ <br />FROM: Phil Hals, Street/Park Superintendent <br />DATE: October 16, 1995 <br />SUBJECT: Hiring Additional Laborer for the Street <br />Department <br />On Monday, October 9, Lori Johnson, Mark Thompson, Terry Bye, and I re- <br />interviewed Chris Holzem for the street department laborer position. Chris <br />was on of three finalists from 80 plus applicants for the laborer position <br />advertised earlier this year. It was a unanimous decision of the interview <br />committee to recommend that the City Council hire Chris Holzem for the <br />laborer position at a starting wage of $7.65 per hour with a cost of living <br />increase on January 1, 1996, with all other employees, and a step increase on <br />July 1, 1996, provided that his job performance has been acceptable. <br />Chris is a life .long resident of this area and lives just east of the city limits in <br />Burns Township with his wife Sarah and young son where he farms part <br />time. He has indicated that if hired by the City Council he will be available <br />to start work in two weeks, which will give us an excellent opportunity to <br />train him for sidewalk snow removal as well as make use of his talents to <br />help finish some of our fall work projects. <br /> <br />ITEM 5.9. <br />MEMORANDUM <br />V~~ TO: Mayor & City Council <br />13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
