3.1) Student intern - Chris. Majcin: Chris will be working with the Community Recreation office for a <br />• period of approx. 8 weeks this fall. Chris is completing his final requirement towards graduation from <br />Bemidji State University. The Board should formally accept Chris and this internship position. <br />~) Personnel Committee Rem The personnel committee has completed their work and <br />recommends the following: Based upon increased supervisory responsibility and performance the <br />committee recommends that Jeff A. move to classification #21 step # 4, Annual salary of $37,911. <br />( in accordance with the Sherburne County Non-Union Rates Schedule ). <br />The committee is also recommending a change in supervision for Jeff A. Currently Jeff is supervised <br />by Charlie Blesener (The Dist. 728 Community Education Director ). The committee is <br />recommending a change and will have more information to report on this matter at the meeting. <br />The committee identified 3 areas that they discussed with Jeff that they see as areas of importance of <br />his awareness and needed improvement. 1) The importance of familiarity with all recreation staff and <br />the issues that they face in their work. 2) The need to keep the Board more informed of activities, <br />issues, projects, tasks, etc. that Jeff gets involved with. & 3) Continue to increase our program <br />identity and keep the public, Town Boards and City Councils, aware of the importance of Recreation <br />in their community. <br />B.2) '96 Budget Re o~ nse: All participating communities by this time should have considered the '96 <br />budget recommendation. It will be important to hear from each participating community. <br />• B.3~Overview of Goals for'96: Although this Board meets on a regular basis, Jeff and the personnel <br />committee believe that it is important for the Board to be as aware as possible of the activities that <br />take place out of the Recreation Office. Jeff will also be making some adjustments to his monthly <br />reports that should aid in improving understanding of current activities and issues. <br />Goals for'96: <br />-Continue work on strategic planning initiatives <br />- Expand transportation service to programming <br />- Increase/ expand service to participating communities <br />- Increase Joint Powers Participation <br />- Leadership in park /athletic fields advocacy, development, planning, and management <br />- Increase our/ my responsibility / leadership to local community park and recreation commission <br />concerns <br />- Increase programming district wide <br />-Continue to establish program budgets in communities that are lacking <br />- Fund balance policy development <br />- Continued leadership with improved service operations <br />- Continued community involvement <br />B.4) Recreational Rrogramminq development and Rarameters: At our long range planning meeting <br />we determined that we should study some other communities that have a history of providing <br />• recreational services in a community where Community Education also exists. Jeff A. has come to <br />the conclusion that each community is unique and has its own history of evolution and relationship to <br />CE. It is clear that there is much potential for recreation and CE programming in this community and <br />
