r ~~ <br />~~ <br />ity of ~~ <br />lk • <br />R~ <br />ITEM 7.9. <br />MEMORANDUM <br />~~~ TO: Mayor & City Council <br />FROM: Gary Schmitz, Planning Assistant ~~ <br />DATE: September 18, 1995 <br />SUBJECT: Ordinance Amendment Request by the <br />City of Elk River, Public Hearing <br />Case No. OA 95-13 <br />Request <br />The City of Elk River is requesting an ordinance amendment which would <br />change the rear yard setbacks for principal structures in the Rlc (Single <br />Family Residential) zoning district to 20 feet, and the Rlb (Single Family <br />Residential) zoning districts to 25 feet. <br />Attachments <br />Ordinance 95- <br />August 22, 1995, Memo to the Planning Commission <br />Background <br />The City of Elk River is proposing an ordinance amendment to rear yard <br />setbacks for principal structures (homes) in the Rlc (Single Family <br />Residential) and Rlb (Single Family Residential) zoning districts. The <br />existing rear yard setback in the Rlc zoning district is 10 feet, and the rear <br />yard setback in the Rlb city-sewered areas is 15 feet, and non-sewered <br />parcels 20 feet. Staff is proposing an ordinance amendment which would <br />change the rear yard setback in the Rlc zoning district to 20 feet and Rlb <br />zoning district to 25 feet. The attached memo to the Planning Commission <br />explains this request in detail. <br />Planning Commission Meeting' <br />At the August 22, 1995, Planning Commission meeting, the Commission <br />changed staff `s recommendation and reduced the proposed setback in the <br />Rlc zoning district from 25 feet to 20 feet due to the smaller lot sizes. <br />n <br />-.._J <br />13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
