Item # 5.2. <br />i~ver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Lori Johnson, City Administrator <br />DATE: April 5, 2010 <br />SUBJECT: Certificate of Commendation to the Elk River Wastewater <br />Treatment Facility <br />The City of Elk River and its Wastewater Treatment Facility staff received a Certificate of <br />Commendation from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) recognizing <br />exemplary effort expended in the year 2009 to comply with MPCA's permit program to <br />protect and preserve the waters of Minnesota. Elk River was one of 170 cities to receive the <br />commendation. A total of 510 cities applied for the award but only about thirty percent <br />received the award. The City has received this award 14 times. <br />Receipt of this award is due to the outstanding work of the staff in the Wastewater <br />department and their work to comply with all of the MPCA requirements. Gary Leirmoe, <br />Chief Wastewater Operator will be at Monday's meeting representing the Wastewater <br />department staff. The other staff members include: Lead Wastewater Operator Matt Stevens, <br />Wastewater Operators Chris Clark, Kevin Beadles, Nick Flaherty, and Maintenance <br />Operator Dale Eckert. <br />
