Jul-12-01 <br /> <br />12:36 TOWN OF BIG LAKE <br /> <br />2r~ Monthly Board Meeting <br />June 27, 2001 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />763 263 3660 P 01 <br /> <br />Post-It' Fax Note 7671 Date <br /> <br />Business from the Supervisors/Committee Reports <br /> <br />Town Roads <br /> <br />a. 205(h Street Onsite Meeting - Treasurer Warneke advised that Members of the Big Lake <br />School District, Traffic Engineers from the MNDoT, Members of the City Council and Big Lake <br />City Administrator Pat Wussow, and Chairman Petersen and Treasurer Wameke had mat today <br />at the site of the proposed Big Lake Elementary School on 205r" Street. The purpose of the <br />meeting was to discuss traffic safety issues. Traffic lanes, entrances, and turn lanes were <br />discussed. Loading zones end drop-off areas for student transportation were also reviewed, <br />Treasurer Wameke advised that the dght of way along 205u' Avenue, according to Township plat <br />documents, in the area of Bumtwood is 33'. The construction schedule was discussed. It was <br />noted that the anticipated date for base work was fall 2002 with final construction in the spring ol <br />2003, and the openin0 of the school in the fall of 2003, A second joint meeting for the ;~ig Lake <br />School Board, City of Big Lake, and Town of Big Lake will be scheduled in September to discuss <br />progression and plans. There will also be a need to resolve issues regarding the funding of <br />sidewalks and any other pedestrians traveling areas, MNDoT advised that the Township may be <br />able to apply for some kind of grant money available in 2004 for this. MNDoT also advised that a <br />speed study could be conducted in April or May of 2003. The Township will need to request this <br />by letter. <br /> <br />b. Other - <br /> <br />-Terry Herman, Township Engineer, presented the change orders for Bauredy Brotl~ers for <br />the addition of the paving of the extension of service drive between Twin Pines and Farm <br />Services Addition, and for the repair of 196~ Avenue, totaling $16,220.50. Supervisor AJfords <br />motioned to approve the change order for Bauerly Brothers, Supervisor Hofer seconded. All <br />present were in favor. The motion carded. <br /> <br /> -Treasurer Warneke advised that the outside audit conducted by Kaliher and Passolt has <br /> been completed. The will be reviewed and presented at the next meeting. <br /> <br /> Chairman's Report- <br /> <br />,~' 1. Arne Engstrom/Request for Annexation of 1.94 Acres into the City of Elk River - Ama <br />Engstrom presente~ a request to annex 1/g4 acres to the City of Elk River. This would combine <br />two separate properties into one, creating one title description and one property identification <br />number for a single 10 acre parcel. At this time he is in the process of selling the house, and <br />farm buildings to his daughter. The additional 1.94 acres contains the garage, a shed, most of <br />the septic system artd a swimming pool would be combined with the home site. Chairman <br />Petersen advised that it is possible for the City of Elk River to deny his request for annexation. <br />After discussion Supervisor Hofer motioned to allow Ama and Madlyn Engstrom to continue their <br />efforts to annex the 1.94 acre building site into the City of Elk River subject to Elk River's <br />acceptance Supervisor Alfords seconded All present were in favor. The motion carded. <br /> <br /> 2. County Buildability Requirements for New Plats/Mottled Soil Indicator- Chairman Petersen <br /> advised that he had attended the County public hearing regarding thls, He also received a call <br /> from Nancy Riddle, Sherburne County Zoning Administrator, requesting that 11; the Township has <br /> a position on this, that it be submitted in a letter to the County. There was discussion regarding <br /> the use of the term mottled soil and its interchangeable use with other soil measurements such as <br /> water table, and 100-year Ifigh water mark. Chairman Petersen has spoken with Sherbume <br /> <br /> <br />
