The supplemental information is attached.
ours o ~er~taon
The adjacent business owner ~I~ostreba} objected to the hours of operation constraints imposed on his
business, but not applied to the subject application. The applicant has indicated his intended hours o£
operation. The site will be staffed S to 4:30 during the fall and spring to move items, The mini-storage
portion of the business is proposed to be open 24 hours a day via a key card entry. These hours are
generally consistent with a business in the middle of an industrial zone. It should be highlighted that Mr.
I~ostxeba's business is across the street from residentially zoned and used properties whexe concerns
regarding noise may be more noticeable.
Light
The applicant has provided the lighting plan. It includes a light installed near the main gate as a security
measure. This light is similar to the "street light" required of I~ostreba. Again, the main difference
between the I~ostreba and Sharp applications is the proximity to several residential uses. In speaking with
the City of Ramsey, these properties are residential in their Comprehensive Plan and aerial photos suggest
that these houses were built prior to Mr. I~ostreba's application.
~Daar deli n
The applicant spol~e with his door supplier His proposed solution is to paint the doors to better blend
into the color of the building. These doors are also screened behind planned landscaping.
nutdaar stara,~e terms
The applicant intends to eventually consti.•uct the fourth building. At that time, there will be no room for
outdoor storage. The applicant does not suggest a timeframe for this to occut•.
Mr. Kost~•eba has applied for a conditional use permit to use a portion of his lot for outdoor storage,
while p~•ocessing that permit, staff noted that the landscaping has not been completed.
~utdaar starve items
The applicant lists the items to be stored outdoors including boats, RV's, operational equipment, etc.
.~udsca in
The applicant requests permission to alter the landscaping requirements allowing a reduction in the
number of trees or their size. Staff does not support a waiver in these .requirements.
~~a~Chnnents
City Council staff report dated February 1 ~, 2010
Supplementary information from applicant dated February 2~, 2010
Lighting plan
Conditional use permit
C~~®n Motion by Second by Vote
~I~~
C;~Documents and Settings~jmiller~T,acal Settings~'I'emporary Internet Files~OLI~3E~CU 10-Q1 Sharp I3nat SR to CC 3-15-1Q ~2~,doc Page 2
