lo. Gifts and Favors <br />Everyone shall not take advantage of services or opportunities personal gain by virtue of <br />their public offices that are not available to the public in general. They shall refrain from <br />accepting gifts, favors or promises of future benefits that might compromise their <br />independence judgment or action ar give the appearance of being compromised, <br />1l. Canfidentiallnformation <br />Everyone shall respect and preserve the confidentiality of information provided to them <br />concerning the confidential matters of the City. They sha 11 neither disclose con~.dential <br />information without proper legal authorizat~n nor use such information to advance their <br />person's financial or private interests. <br />12. Representation of Private Interests <br />In keeping with their role as stewards of the public trust, everyone shall not appear an behalf <br />of the private interests of a third-party before the City Council or any board, commission or <br />committee or proceeding the City. <br />13. Advocacy <br />To the best of their ability, everyone shall represent the official policies and positions of the <br />City Council, when presenting their personal opinions or positions, members shall <br />explicitly state that they do not represent the Council ar the City. <br />16. Improper Influence <br />Everyone shall refrain from using their position to improperly influence the <br />deliberations or decisions of City staff, boards, commission or committees. <br />17. Policy Role of Members <br />Everyone shall respect and adhere to the Council-Manager structure of the City of <br />Firebaugh City Government as provided in State law the General City. <br />18. Positive work Environment <br />Everyone shall support the maintename of a positive and constr~tive environment for <br />residents, businesses and City employees. <br />19. Implementation <br />Ethics standards shall be included in the regular orientations far Staff and Volunteers, <br />All members shall sign a statement affirming they read and understand the City of <br />Firebaugh City Council Code of Ethics. <br />
