Discuss EDA Goals and Projects for 2010 <br />Ms. Mehelich presented the staff report. She reviewed the 2009 EDA goals and projects as well as <br />the proposed 2010 goals and projects. <br />Commissioner Westgaard commented that he would like to see recruitment of sit-down <br />restaurants added to the 2010 goals list. <br />Commissioner Touchette indicated he would like to see the EDA undertake strategies to fill <br />vacant retail space in addition to the commercial/industrial. <br />Commissioner Klinzing stated that the city's initiative for energy city is not listed in the goals. She <br />explained that the idea was to have a partnership between energy city and economic development. <br />She would like to suggest the coordination between economic development staff and the Energy <br />City Commission for opportunities to promote energy city as an economic development tool. <br />Commissioner Dwyer questioned the status of the shovel-ready initiative. Ms. Mehelich stated <br />that it is not listed in the 2010 goals because there is a minimum acreage requirement and none of <br />the current sites meet the requirement. She noted that the shovel-ready program could consider <br />industrial parcels in the Gateway Business Park following completion of the Focused Area Study <br />Commissioner Dwyer indicated that he would like to see maintaining contact with Sherburne <br />County and their economic development efforts added to the list. <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER KI.INZING AND SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />TVEITE TO APPROVE THE 2010 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br />GOALS AND PROJECTS AS OUTLINED IN THE STAFF REPORT WITH THE <br />INCLUSION OF THE COMMENTS LISTED ABOVE. MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br />Other Business <br />There was no other business. <br />8.
