MOT~OI~ CARRIED 5~0. <br />5.3. Authozization to Advertise for Bids for Fite De artment Hea Rescue Vehicle <br />Chief Cunningham presented the staff report. He stated some members of the l~eavy rescue <br />vehicle truck committee were present to answer questions. <br />Mayor T~linzing asked if it were possible to purchase a slightly used vehicle instead of a new <br />truck, since the price of a new truck will be more than what was originally budgeted. <br />Chief Cunningham stated it would be about the same price point and discussed concerns <br />with technology, wear and tear, and having enough adequate space far personnel and <br />equipment. He stated a demo tt•uck would run around $2$5,000. He stated the specs that <br />were put together by the trick committee were bare bones and items were not added that <br />they didn't feel weren't absolutely necessary. <br />After discussion regarding the pros and cons of purchasing a used ~.uck, Council agreed that <br />it would be best to approve authorization to advertise far bids for a new truck. <br />Chief Cunningham stated they applied fot• two grants but the grants available wouldn't <br />directly suit their current needs and felt the bidding process would provide competitive <br />buyer power. <br />Joseph Glowockai,1~024 -1~2n~ Clrc~e, interrupted from the audience and requested tlae <br />vehicle purchased be made in the USA. He also asked about fire f ghters and their <br />requirements for commercial driver's licenses. <br />Chief Cunningham responded by stating tlae vehicle purchased would be made in the USA. <br />He also stated that fireFghters are exempt from needing a cammercial driver's license to <br />drive a fn.•e truck; however, they do receive extensive training to operate such a vehicle. <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER OUMPHREVAND SECONDED B'Y <br />COUNCILMEMBER ZERw.AS TO A.UTHORI~E ADVERTISING FOR BIDS <br />FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HEAVY RESCUE VEHICLE. U date on ackson Street dater Tower <br />Ms. Haug presented the staff report. <br />Councilmembers Morin and Gumplarey expressed concerns with future upkeep and <br />maintenance of the water town and the possible costs potentially incurred by the City, <br />Ms. Haug stated there is grant money available far restoration once the tower is considered a <br />historic place, <br />It was decided to continue the grant applicatson process which will determine the future of <br />the water rawer as to whether or not it will be listed on the National Register of Historic <br />Places, <br />5.5.
