(WMI), 22460 Highway 169 NW, issued in July 2007. The original
Interim Use Permit is slated to expire December 31, 2009. Approval of the 10 -year extension would
allow the use to continue until December 31, 2019.
Background /Discussion
The original Interim Use Permit was issued on July 16, 2007, and permitted WMI to keep the existing red
metal skinned building until December 31, 2009, or until Conditional Use Permit approval for a
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility had been obtained. At this time, there are no plans for
constructing a HHW facility. This existing red metal - skinned building serves the general public as a drop -
off center for recyclables, white goods, electronics, demolition debris, and wood products. It also offers a
raised drop -off area for residents where Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) can be directly deposited in roll-
off containers for subsequent hauling by Elk River Landfill to the active face.
There are no changes to the original approved site plan proposed.
The original Interim Use Permit is attached for reference.
Planning Commission Discussion /Public Comment
There were no comments raised by the Planning Commission or public.
Attachments
• Location map
• Narrative from applicant
• Interim Use Permit #CU 07 -18
• Staff report to Planning Commission dated December 8, 2009
• Draft recording document
Action Motion by Second by Vote
Follow Up
SACound \Rebecca \Waste Management IUP.doc
