The cost to City of Elk diver for 2009 Fall Clean Up weel~ was $5,233.75 x$22.85 per <br />participating household}. For comparison, the cost of the 209 Spring Clean Up weel~ was <br />$2,743.94 x$7.30 pet participating household with 37G households pa~:ticipating}. This is a <br />very successful program that residents look forward to participating in each year. <br />Residents are allowed to bring in one load of junk, but these items cannot be funded <br />through County subsidy, and therefore drastically increase the cost of our clean up events. <br />The landfill charges ~95~ton, while the cost through clean up week has remained a mere <br />$10~load. ~Ihile most loads of junk are small, averaging a landfill cost of approximately X35, <br />one resident's load during the Fall event was 1.05 tons, <br />Another source of high disposal costs is electronics. The average cost of an electronic item <br />at the landfill is $17 each, with a maximum cost of X30 per item ~ie: console TV's and <br />computer systems}.The clean up cost for residents has been ~6 per item, with computer <br />components having a nightly higher disposal rate. Sherburne County helps subsidize the <br />Spring clean up events and has recently approved use of clean up funds for the Fall events as <br />well when requested}. <br />
