)IlNNEAPOLIS <br /> <br />DOW <br />TOWN <br /> <br />COUNCIL <br /> <br /> Draft Resolution for Discussion Regarding <br />The Northstar Corridor Commuter Rail Project <br /> <br />March 22, 2001 <br /> <br />Whereas: The Minneapolis Downtown Council is committed to maintaining and <br />expanding our region's economy, including efforts to improve the business climate <br />so that we may all compete successfully in the national and international <br />marketplace; and <br /> <br />Whereas: The Minneapolis Downtown Council believes that a modem, multi- <br />modal transportation system is essential to the future of our cities and our region; <br />and <br /> <br />Whereas: The Northstar Corridor commuter rail project will, when completed, <br />foster economic opportunity for all cities along the route, inter-connect centers of <br />commerce to the benefit of all, reinforce community growth patterns along the <br />route, and promote the ability for visitors and residents to commute freely along <br />the route in an affordable manner which also reduces traffic congestion; and <br /> <br />Whereas: Each commuter rail station will provide the conm-tunities with unique <br />development opportunities that will enhance the livability and vitality of their <br />neighborhoods; <br /> ~ · <br /> <br />Now therefore, be it resolved, that the Minneapolis Downtown Council Board <br />of Directors, on behalf of its Membership, fully supports the Northstar <br />Corridor Commuter Rail Project. <br /> <br />Minneapolis Downtown Council <br />81 South 9th Street Suite 260 <br />Minneapolis, MN 55402 <br /> <br /> Tel.
