JUN-30-95 FRI 13;21 h1SA CONSULTING ENGINEERS FAX N0. 6126449446 P, 02
June 30, 1995
' File: 230-246-20
Dear Elk Hills Addition Residents:
COVSI'I,Tl,1C E~GI~'EBRS
As you are aware, the City is proceeding with the redesign of the Elk Hills Drive/Dodge
1326 Energy Pork Drive Avenue intersecfion. The alternative that the City Council selected was afour-way intersection
s,. Paul, MN 55108 with three legs having a stop condition, and the 4th leg coming from Trunk Highway 169 on
612.644-4389 ~ Hills Drive having free movement in all directions. As the design of this intersection has
proceeded., the City Council felt it was worth contacting the residents of the Elk Hills
l-eoa•saa-2923 neighborhood to determine if there was any interest in removing Elk Hills Drive to the east
Fax 612.644-944b from this major intersection. There have been some comments made by individuals that would
indicate they favor a cul-de-sac on Elk Hills Drive to keep commercial traffic away from the
residential neighborhood.
Included in this mailing are three exhibits. The first shows your neighborhood relative to the
general area of Elk River between TH 169, CSAH 13 to the east, 5th Street to the south, and
Deerfield Third to the north. The second exhibit shows the general layout of the proposed
intersection of Elk Hills Drive and Dodge as approved by the City Council. The third exhibit
shows what the intersection might look like if Elk Hills Drive to the east were cul-de-laced.
If the cul-de-sac is constructed, access to your neighborhood would be via 189th Avenue.
GViI ENGINEERING
~I~o~„~NTAi Please review these drawings and indicate by checking the appropriate box at the bottom of this
~(uNICIPaI letter whether or not you would be interested in further pursuing the cul-de-sacing of Elk Hills
PLANNING Drive as it enters your neighborhood. Enclosed is aself-addressed stamped envelope which
SOLID WASTE you can use to return your questionnaire to me. I would appreciate these being returned by
STRUCTURAL July 12, 1995. It is anticipated that this project will be back on the City Council agenda on
SURVEYING July 17, at which time I will update the Council on the results of the survey. If there is any
TRAFFIC indication of a desire far a ct3l-de-sac, the next step would be to have an informational meeting
TRANSPORTATION with all residents of Elk Hills Drive to further discuss the issue.
EIECTRICAL/MECHANICAI If you have any questions, please call.
ENGINEERING:
FIVAC
POWER DISTRIBUTION Sincerely,
scADA MSA, CONSULTING ENGINEERS
SYSTEM CONTROLS
~i
;•l ~~-•
Terry J.
