ITEM 5.10.b <br />MEMORANDUM <br />er TO: Mayor & City Council <br />FROM: Phil Hals, Street/Park Supt. <br />DATE: June 19, 1995 <br />SUBJECT: Update on 1995 Woodland Trails Park <br />Grant Work Program <br />In the fall of 1994, a local contractor did the grading on the entrance road <br />and parking lot and removed many of the stumps along the pathways. This <br />spring, the city street/park department rented a brush mower attachment for <br />our Gehl skid loader to mow the trail corridors. A contracted dozer then <br />stripped the topsoil from the trail bed. <br />In the coming month, we will be hauling in subgrade material, setting <br />culverts, and clearing some dead trees. In August, we will install the Class 5 <br />base on all of the trails, parking lot, and entrance road. <br />As the project moves forward, I will be monitoring the city's labor and <br />equipment commitment, and, if we have come near our goal of $50,000 as the <br />• city's portion of the grant match, I will come back to the City Council to <br />request permission to hire a contractor to do the actual trail paving rather <br />than renting a paver and committing a large block of street/park department <br />time. <br />I will have monthly updates for the City Council on this project as we work <br />through the summer. <br /> <br />13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
