Elk River
Municipal Utilities
13069 Orono Parkway • P.O. Box 430 Phone: 763.441.2020
Elk River, MN 55330-0430 Fax: 763.441.8099
November 12, 2009
To: Elk River Municipal Utilities commission
Jerry Takle
Jerry Gumphrey
John Dietz
From: Theresa Slominski
Re: Water Assessments
Attached is a listing of proposed water assessments for customers with outstanding
balances that still remain unpaid. We sent letters out giving notice that payment would
need to be made or amounts will be assessed to individual property taxes in accordance
with Minnesota Statute 444.075.3e. The city council would need to approve the
assessments and take them to the county for the actual assessment on the property taxes.
Due to the timing of our commission meeting this month, the city council received this
listing to approve at their November 16`" meeting, pending our commission's approval.
There are two pages of assessments described above. The first page totaling $1,481.81 is
from the water write-offs that have been approved on a quarterly basis and were
identified as assessment at that time. The second page is from the accounts that have not
been written off and are still in our database. They are divided into active, $ 6,715.64,
and inactive, $2,368.81, accounts for our internal purposes, and total $9,084.45. There
are three large amounts to a developer for connections that remain unpaid that are
included.
Staff recommends approving the attached list(s) totaling $10,566.26 to take to the city
council for assessment on property taxes.
