August 11, 2009 Planning Commission Meeting <br />Commissioner Boese will attend the August 11, 2009 Planning Commission <br />Meeting. <br />5. Open Mike -None <br />6. Recreation Manager's Report -Steve Benoit <br />Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit shared that summer programs kicked off with the <br />annual Bike Rodeo and Safety Camp. The Summer Playground Adventure and <br />Sports Camps are all off to a great start. <br />Mr. Benoit shared the Senior Center Coordinator's. <br />Director's Report -Bill Maertz <br />Director of Parks and Recreation, Bill Maertz shared an update on the Lions Park <br />Facility Use Policy and the Great Northern Trail progress. <br />Mr. Maertz shared that the Elk River School District is repaving the Meadowvale <br />Elementary school parking lot and was looking for feedback from the <br />commissioners regarding them adding and realigning some trails. <br />Commissioner Niziolek stated his concern regarding the potential steepness of a <br />trail on the northeast end of the school and suggested putting further north near the <br />fence. <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER NIZIOLEK AND SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER NYSTROM TO RECOMMEND TO THE ELK RIVER <br />SCHOOL DISTRICT TO MODIFY THE TRAIL CONNECTION ON <br />THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF MEADOWVALE AND PRESERVE THE <br />SOUTHERN TRIANGLE OR PRAIRIE GRASS. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br />Mr. Maertz also shared that "Elk River Bound",anew cable TV show, which <br />highlights Elk River Parks and Recreation programs and facilities will be playing at <br />various times. <br />8. Action/Discussion Items <br />8.1.A. Adopt-a-Park Program Update <br />Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit shared an update on the Adopt-a-Park Program <br />and which parks were currently adopted. <br />Information/Update Items <br />9.1.
