City Counr~i M~i,utes Page 4 <br />August ~7, 209 <br />Mr. Z~aellas stated they are ready tv meet with staff now that the public hearing is closed. He <br />stated the landfill has held about a dozen open houses that weren't well attended and they <br />have tried to get the input of the community. <br />Councilmember Moon concurred with Councilmember Zerwas and wants to see a final <br />plan. He stated he could understand the landfill's reasoning for listening at the hearings and <br />changing their plans. He ques~oned if the consultants will get a chance to seethe plan. <br />Ms. Johnson stated the c:ity's consultants could look at the additional data. She noted the <br />information is lengthy and a thorough analysts, which maybe diff cult to complete by <br />September 14, is needed. <br />Councilmember Moon stated the original request was to-change the designation of X49 acres <br />of land to landfill. He questioned if the city can approve the land designation change for <br />only 75 acres ~ new landfall. proposal} or if the entire 149 acres has to be approved. <br />Mr. Beck suggested the application could be amended so the landfill is only rezoning the <br />portion that will be used for landfall. He stated the Council could make it a condition for <br />approval also. Mr. Beck stated he is concerned about the tuning for Council decision and he <br />questioned if the Council would like the Planning Commission to review the request again <br />due to the number of changes made by the applicant. <br />MOPED BY COUNCILMEMBER WESTGAA.R.D AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN FAR STAFF TO HAVE A RECOMMENDATION <br />TO COUNCIL BY SEPTEMBER S, THE COUNCIL TO DISCUSS THESE Two <br />ITEMS AT THE SEPTEMBER 14 wORKSESSION, COUNCIL DECISION TO <br />BE MADE AT THE SEPTEMBER 21, X009 COUNCIL MEETING, AND THAT <br />THE PLANNING COMMISSION BE INVITED TO ATTEND THE <br />WORKSESSION MEETING. MOTION CARRIED 5w0. <br />Mr. Beck stated these items will be re-noticed and republished in order to give the public its <br />due process right to comment. <br />Councilmember Zerwas stated the public hearing will be on September 21 but that the <br />public ~s invited to attend the September 14 worksession meeting as it is an open. meeting. <br />Mr. Beck further stated the city will take written comments at anytime and will be added to <br />the record. <br />5,4.
