This policy extends to any situation in which employees are acting in the course and <br />scope of their employment including while utilizing personal vehicles or attending work- <br />related training. However, it is not a violation of this policy to lawfully carry a firearm in <br />a personal vehicle that is lawfully encased and secured. Employees may be disciplined <br />for violations of this policy up to and including termination of employment. <br />9. EMPLOYEE SAFETY <br />Safety is of paramount importance to the Utility. All employees and managers must <br />follow the regulations and laws of the State of Minnesota and rules of the Utility <br />governing the safety of employees and the public. If employees have questions or <br />concerns about issues affecting safety, they should immediately discuss them with their <br />supervisor, any manager, or the relevant public safety authority. <br />Employees are required to report accidents resulting in personal injuries and/or vehicle, <br />equipment, or property damage to their supervisor immediately. <br />Personal Injuries. Immediately report to your supervisor all accidents <br />and injuries occurring within the course of your employment. The <br />supervisor shall submit a First Report of Injury and a Supervisor's <br />Report of Injury Form to the Human Resources Representative within <br />twenty-four (24) hours of the time of injury. <br />Vehicle, equipment, or property damage accidents. Immediately <br />report to your supervisor all damage to Utility property. The <br />supervisor should submit documentation regarding the incident to the <br />Office Manager within twenty-four (24) hours of the time of the <br />damage or accident. A copy of the Minnesota Motor Vehicle Accident <br />Report must be submitted for all vehicle accidents. <br />The Utility will provide necessary safety equipment to employees. This may include: <br />• One pair of safety glasses at the time of employment. The employee shall <br />provide the correct prescription for the safety glasses. <br />• The Utility will pay the cost of new safety lenses, upon a change in the <br />prescription. If needed, frames will be replaced every four years. <br />• Safety glasses that are broken or damaged while the employee is on the job <br />will be replaced by the Utility. <br />10. EXPOSURE TO HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES <br />Any employee routinely exposed to hazardous substances or harmful physical agents as <br />defined in the Minnesota Employee Right to Know Act (Mttvrr. STAT. § 182.675) shall be <br />trained before being assigned or reassigned work exposing the employee to such <br />substances or agents and shall be given training annually thereafter.
