31. EXPOSURE TO HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES <br />Any employee routinely exposed to hazardous substances or harmful physical agents as <br />defined in the Minnesota Employee Right to Know Act of 1983 (Laws 1983, Ch. 316, <br />Minn. Stat. 182.675) shall be trained before being assigned or reassigned work exposing <br />the employee to such substances or agents and shall be given training annually thereafter. <br />Training shall include an explanation of how and where information about hazards is <br />stored in the work place, how the hazards are labeled, and where to obtain specific <br />information. T lie supervisor (or other designated off cial) shall provide for such trai~iiilg <br />and for compliance with the "Minnesota Employee Right to Know Act of 1983", <br />including the establishment of specific policies to insure compliance with the state law <br />and regulations. An employee acting in good faith has the right to refuse to work under <br />conditions which the employee reasonably believes present an imminent danger of death <br />or serious physical harm to the employee. <br />32. INTERNET AND E-MAIL USE <br />Please note that E-mail and Internet Access is not available to all employees of the Elk <br />River Municipal Utilities, at the present time. <br />Rules for E-Mail <br />Tact counts. If you are not sure e-mail is the right mediwn, for your message, use another <br />form of communication. <br />Never deliver a reprimand via e-mail. <br />Never gossip, or provide personal information about yourself or someone else, or <br />emotional responses. <br />Sensitive materials should not be through e-mail. <br />No insensitive language, such as derogatory, defamatory, or obscene should be used. <br />No harassing language, including sexually harassing language, or remarks that may be <br />misinterpreted. An infraction using the language is subject to discipline. <br />E-mail is considered public. <br />E-mail should be checked at least daily. <br />Maximum retention of e-mail is thirty days. <br />Chain letters is a prohibited use of E-mail. <br />Keep personal use of e-mail brief. <br />Internet Use <br />Employees may use their Internet facilities for non-business research or browsing during <br />non-work hours. <br />Exercise discretion. <br />Do not intentionally access any site that is inappropriate, or that could cause <br />embarrassment to the Utility or employee.
