City Council Minutes Page 2 <br />August 10, 2009 <br />. <br />5.1, 2010 Bu get ~orksesston <br />Ms. Jol~nson distributed a list of possible adjustments through corrections/cuts/funding <br />shifts. <br />Library Board Member John Dietz provided an update on the Great River Regional Library <br />~GRRL} meeting he recently attended. It was the consensus of the Council to send a letter <br />supporting Elk River as a stand alone librar~r within the GRRL system. <br />Councilmember Zerwas arrived ~7.Q2 p.m.} <br />Ms. Johnson reviewed parks and recreation goals and budgets, <br />Ms. 7~ostanshek outlined her proposal to allow businesses to advertise on the last page of <br />the senior newsletter as an additional revenue source. The Council concurred with Ms. <br />Kostanshek's request, <br />Mayor Klinzing expressed an interest in approaching communities whose residents use our <br />recreation programs and ask for funding. Councilmember Moon suggested that the <br />resident/non-resident fees may need to be reviewed. Mr. Maertz indicated that staff will <br />compile data on how many non-residents utilize the programs. <br />Ms. Johnson reviewed the public works goals and budgets. <br />The Council questioned gravel tax revenue and requested that staff contact Sherburne <br />County to verify that tlae volume of gravel is being correctly reported and taxed. <br />The Council discussed the tax levy, Several councilmembers felt that maintaining tlae same <br />tax rate as last year nay not be feasible. <br />5.1.A, Roof ReU~ir for Streets IParks Buildin <br />MOVED BY CGUNC~LMEMBER.
