Elk River
Municipal Utilities
Memorandum
To: Elk River Utilities Commission
John Dietz
Jen3'~'e3'
~~~
From: David Berg
Date: 8/11/2009
Subject: SMART Irrigation Field Day Follow-Up
1) Field Day Events
a) Associations were invited to view a SMART Irrigation audit. Sherburne County
Soil & Water hosted the event with ERMU's water department. It took take place
August 1S`, 2009 from 9:OOam-12:OOpm. The host site was Meadowvale
Townhome Association. Great Northern Landscapes performed the audit
presentation. Not many attended, but the information that was learned was
extremely valuable. Those that attended realized how important an audit and
proper system technology is to water conservation, which saves the customer a lot
of money. Word is getting out to associations & they are starting to see the
SMART controllers as beneficial. Several associations are planning to install
their SMART controllers shortly. The associations who attended will be good
advocates to this new technology & rebate program.
2) Items Checked For Audit
a) Sprinkler heads
i.
