City Council Minutes <br />July 20, 2009 <br />Page ~ <br />Joe G~owacki,11024192nd Circle ~ would like an all-way stop sign installed at 193rd <br />Avenue/Xavier because there is a large amount of pedestrian traffic. He explained he <br />doesn't believe the intersection is safe without t11e all-way stop sign. He Invited <br />Counci.l~ne~nber Morin and Mayor I~linzing to come observe the pedestrian traffic once the <br />construction is cofnpleted. <br />Mr, Maurer explained the criteria for an all-way stop and for t11e MnDOT traffic study. Ms, Johnson added <br />that tlae benefit level remains tlae same until the Council increases it. <br />Couneilmefnber Gumphrey withdrew his motia~, <br />$.2, Authorization to Purchase Truck for Parks and Recreation De artment <br />Mr. Simon presented the staff report, <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER wESTGAARD TO AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF A <br />Zo09 CHEVY 2500 PICKUP AND PLOW AS OUTLINED IN THE STAFF <br />REPORT. MOTION' CARRIED 5~0. <br />9. Other Business <br />Ms. Johnson distributed a letter from the Elk River landfill dated July 15, 2009 requesting a <br />workshop with the Council to discuss issues related to the landfill's southern development <br />area prior to the already scheduled August 17 Council meeting. She stated the public hearing <br />was continued to the August 17 meeting, therefore, legal input is requested before <br />scheduling a workshop. She further stated the desire to notify the public of any meetings at <br />which the current landfill application will be discussed, It was noted that budget discussions <br />are scheduled .for tlae August 10 worksessian. The Council agreed to meet in worksession <br />after the regular meeting on August 3 to discuss the budget. Ms. Johnson will confer with <br />Cite Attorney Peter Beck on the landfill request and report back to the Council at the <br />August 3 meeting. <br />10.
