Elk <br /><~._ __,._. _v,_.LL,_ _ River wanted a new library that would generate civic pride and <br />~l _ promote sustainable design while supporting the city's "Energy <br /> City" mission. The city also wanted to be fiscally responsible by <br /> implementing features that had long-term payback. <br />Size <br />16,000 sq. ft. <br />Project Cost A Truly Unique Design <br />est. $4.3M <br />Clark's engineers worked with KKE Architects to meet the <br />Completion Date demands of the city. The new library features a unique "butterfly <br />Oct. 2007 design" roof structure (pictured left) which required Clark to find <br /> and design a solution to meet code requirements while maintaining <br />Services the desired visual interest. Other features include an open floor <br />Structural plan, special areas for specific user groups and a large multi- <br />Engineering purpose room for meetings and events. <br />Partners <br />KKE Architects The Creed for LEED <br />and Merrimac <br />Construction Construction was completed on time and on budget for this $4.3M <br /> project. The library is currently undergoing final certification review <br /> with USGBC for LEED® Gold Certification which would make this <br /> the first LEED® certified library in the State of Minnesota.
