W <br />~/i <br />City of <br />Elk <br />River <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Bill Maertz, Parks and Recreation Director <br />DATE: August 3, 2009 <br />ITEM 5.1. <br />SUBJECT: Elk River Library, LEED Gold Plaque Presentation <br />After a rigorous commissioning and certification process, the LEED Gold certification has <br />been finalized. The Elk River Library is the first library in the State of Minnesota to achieve <br />LEED certification. The Elk River Library has received national press and received several <br />awards including Finance and Commerce Top Project award. <br />A representative from the Green Building Council will attend the August 3 City Council <br />meeting to make a presentation of the plaque to the Mayor, Chair of the Library Board and a <br />representative of KKE Architects. <br />Attachment: <br />^ LEED Certification Review Document <br />^ Project Portfolio <br />
