REQUEST FOR ACTION <br />To Item Number <br />Ci Council 8.2. <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Administration July 20, 2009 Rodney Schreifels, Park Maintenance <br /> Su ervisor <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Authorization to purchase 2009 Chevy 2500 pickup & plow Mark Thompson, Chair Fleet <br /> Committee <br /> Reviewed by <br /> Tim Simon, Finance Director <br />Action Requested <br />Authorization to purchase a 2009 Chevy 2500 pickup and plow. <br />Background/Discussion <br />The 2009 budgeted fleet/equipment list for the Parks department included the purchase of a John Deere <br />5625 tractor, a pickup truck with a v-plow, a spreader, an aerator, and a drag. Due to the budget <br />reductions, the fleet committee reduced the 2009 equipment list by more than $100,000, of which none <br />of these purchases were part of the reductions. The $100,000 corresponding reduction will be a reduced <br />transfer from the General Fund to the Equipment Replacement Fund. <br />At this time, the Parks department is seeking authorization to replace the 1994 F150 pickup truck. The <br />new pickup will be used for general park maintenance and snow removal. Thane Hawkins Polar <br />Chevrolet has the State contract for the pickup in the amount of $26,809 including sales tax. Bert's Truck <br />Equipment Inc. has the State contract for the v-plow in the amount of $5,286.66 including sales tax and <br />installation. Total cost of the 2009 Chevy 2500 pickup and plow including sales tax is $32,095.66. <br />Financial Impact <br />This item is budgeted in the Equipment Replacement Fund.
