PROCLAMATION <br />Minnesota Manufacturers Week <br /> City of Elk River, Minnesota <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Manufacturing has the largest total payroll of any business <br />sector in Minnesota, providing $14.3 billion in wages with $45 <br />million being generated in Sherburne County; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Manufacturing produces $22.9 billion for the state economy and <br />is the largest single share (21 percent) of our gross product; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Manufactured exports brought $8.2 billion into the Minnesota <br />economy in 1995; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Manufacturing provides high skill, high wage jobs which <br />significantly contribute to Minnesota's high standard of living <br />and economic vitality; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Manufacturing contributed nearly $145 million in corporate <br />income taxes in Minnesota, more than any other sector and <br />almost 30 percent of total corporate income taxes. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Henry Duitsman, Mayor of the City of Elk River, <br />Minnesota, do hereby proclaim the week of October 14-18, 1996, to be <br /> <br />CITY OF ELK RIVER, MINNESOTA MANUFACTURERS WEEK <br /> <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of <br />the City of Elk River, Minnesota to be affLxed at the City Office this seventh day <br />of October, 1996. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Henry A.
