ORDINANCE 96- <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 300 OF THE CITY OF ELK <br />RIVER CODE OF ORDINANCES RELATING TO ELECTIONS BY <br />ADDING SECTION 300.02 TITLED "ABSENTEE BALLOT COUNTING <br />BOARD" <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Elk River does hereby ordain as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Section 300.00 of the City of Elk River Code of Ordinances <br />is hereby amended by adding Section 300.02 titled "Absentee Ballot Counting <br />Board." Section 300.02 shall read as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION 300.02 - ABSENTEE BALLOT COUNTING BOARD <br /> <br />1. General Provisions: <br /> <br />A. Title. This Ordinance from the date of its passage <br />shall be known as the Absentee Ballot Counting Board <br />Ordinance, Elk River, Minnesota. <br /> <br />B. Purpose. The purpose of this Ordinance is to authorize <br />the counting of all absentee ballots cast in Elk River by the <br />county-wide Absentee Ballot Counting Board established by <br />Sherburne County. <br /> <br />C. Legal Authority. This Ordinance is enacted pursuant to <br />Minnesota Statute 203B.13. <br /> <br />2. Authorization of County Auditor: <br /> <br />A. The County Auditor is authorized to direct that all <br />absentee ballots obtained by residents of Elk River be <br />returned to the County Auditor for safe and secure storage <br />until election day. <br /> <br />B. The County Auditor shall deliver the absentee ballots <br />directly to the Absentee Ballot Counting Board on election <br />day. <br /> <br /> <br />
