Council Open Forum <br />Councilmember Morin provided an update on the Northstax Corridor meeting. He stated <br />that a station will be located in Fridley. He added that a feasibility study will be completed to <br />see whether a station will also be located in northeast lbfinneapolis. Councilmember Moon <br />stated he expressed concern at the NCDA meeting that the viability of the line for Elk River <br />may suffer if stops continue to be added. <br />1blayor Klinzing discussed the funding available for the Neighbarhood Stabilization Program. <br />5. Johnson infoxcned the Council that the Fire DepartrnenC has a practice burs of the <br />Woodland Trails house scheduled £or Thursday, weather permitting. <br />Ivls. Johnson informed the Council that staff has been worldng with Donna Schluesslex <br />regarding Great River Energy and the Wastewater Treatment Plant concerns she raised at a <br />previous meeting. Environmental Administrator Rebecca Haug has been working with the <br />Pollution Control Agency and ivls. Schluesslex on the issues. <br />l~Is. Johnson stated that the Green Acres legislation was discussed at the County's Truth in <br />Taxation hearing and the County has provided the City with a pettion for residents to sign. <br />The Council agreed to make the petition available to the public. <br />itils. Johnson stated that Senate and House Tax Committee hearings regarding Local <br />Government Aid (LGA) begin on Wednesday. She stated staff would be attending and the <br />Council should notify her if they are interested in attending. <br />1vls. Johnson informed the Council of two recent retirements: Milt Tuttle in the Srreec <br />Department and Kathy Anderson in the Police Department. She stated both would be <br />recognized at a future meeting. She further indicated that the Street DepartmenC position <br />would not be filled at this time and that the Police Department position is being evaluated <br />and staff will come back with a recommendarion at a future meeting. <br />Chief West indicated the Fire Department received a grant in the amount of $129,820 to <br />upgrade their SCBA equipment. The grant requires a city match of 10% or $12,982. <br />8.
