TRENDS AND CASE STUDIES <br />susta~naB~e TecHno~o~Y Park: <br />Cape Charles & Northampton, Virginia <br />Eco-Industrial Concept <br />This project has blended environmental protection and business development to create <br />an eco-industrial park (EIP) that serves as a model for similar projects nationwide. <br />The stated goals included job creation, increasing the tax base, and other economic <br />development objectives. Additionally, the Sustainable Tech Park EIP had education as <br />one of their explicit goals. The planning for this park was visionary, with goals such <br />as becoming the first multi-modal EIP; becoming azero-emissions orclosed-loop <br />manufacturing EIP; having all major tenants producing sustainable products with <br />sustainable manufacturing practice, eventually becoming totally energy independent <br />of fossil fuels or outside electricity. <br />Conceptual Site Plan <br />pevelopen~t Scf~ed~le: <br /> <br />~, <br />~ 17131.
