&AGKGROUND <br />RELATED PLANNING EFFpRTS <br />The master plan for the ~7~st Avenue ~A~T exists in the context of major transportation <br />planning efforts for the prirr~ary transportatio~~ corridors tl~ro~gl~ iRlk River, These <br />transportation planning studies and their a€~tcomes are critical in de~nir~g the future <br />[and use direction for the ~~~st Avenue FAST, i~ey decisions an la1~d use will lil~ely ~e <br />determined bythe locationofafutureinterchange fnr i~ighway~~f ~~, asavertime the <br />corridortrar~sitians to a limited access freeway ar~d all existing accesses are eliminated, <br />The following is a review of the transportation end land use planning efl'arts related <br />to the ~~~st Avenue FAST <br />~~o~ l~~~er-~eg~at~d~ Cn~r~d~r ~~a~~ge~n~ ~~~~ <br />in ~~~~ [~ ~~T, working vxiith input from the city of ~lC~ River, completed aninter- <br />Regional Corridor anageme~~t Plan identifyi~~g alternative strategies for upgrading <br />Highway ~o~~g south of Highway ~~~ i~~ ~ll~ River to a limited access f reewaya The study <br />identified two options far a future six lane freeway alignment; rAlignmer~t A' essentially <br />r~~nning parallel to the rail line roughly ~o~' away and `Alignment B' the existing <br />Highway ~aJ~~g corridor.
