Steinman, Director of Economic <br /> Development <br /> <br />suATE: August 7, 1996 <br /> <br /> BJECT: Agenda Items for August 12th Meeting <br /> <br />Presentation: Elk River - Sustainable City Energy Showcase <br /> <br />As you are aware, the City of Elk River has been designated by the <br />Minnesota Environmental Initiative as the Sustainable City Energy <br />Showcase site. In recognition of this, Joel Burns, of the Minnesota <br />Environmental Initiative, will be available for a presentation at this <br />meeting. This presentation will include a general description of <br />"Sustainable City Energy Showcase", and include a discussion of its <br />implications and potential advantages for the City of Elk River. Mr. <br />Burns has also extended an invitation to local energy related company <br />representatives to provide their input as to the significant advantages <br />of this designation. <br /> <br />City staff Paul Steinman and Steve Rohlf will also be available to <br />discuss the local implications and future activities related to the <br />Sustainable City project. <br /> <br />0 <br /> <br />Review Issues Discussed at Februa~. 12, 1996, Special City <br />Council Meeting Regarding an Economic Development Program <br /> <br />Attached to this memo are the minutes of the meeting held on Monday, <br />February 12, 1996, wherein a discussion of the city's economic <br />development program was held. Such discussion included a wide <br />variety of issues surrounding the hiring of a new director of economic <br />development.
