Mr. Beckius is familiar with the regulations established by the proposed
ordinance, and can abide by these regulations.
The Interim Use Permit (IUP) restricts the composting activity to the northern portion of the
mine. This location attempts to maximize the distance separation from residential-use properties.
The storm water, dust and noise control infrastructures are in place as part of the mineral
extraction operations; this IUP does not permit deviation from that.
The composting business is proposed to be on the east side of the entrance drive. Much of the
site will be screened with the existing buffers. No retail sales are permitted.
No public comments were received for or against the request when the Planning Commission
held their public hearing on Apri113, 2009. The Planning Commission added for clarity, that only
wholesale distribution of the product may occur at this site. Also, they recommended a condition
that the site be restored to its original condition at the end of the interim use, or when operations
cease, whichever comes first.
Attachments
• Staff report dated Apri113, 2009.
• Draft IUP
