General Planning Permit Request Narrative <br />Elk River Parks and Recreation Farmers Market <br />Detailed Description/Scope of Proiect <br />The Elk River Parks and Recreation Department is requesting to host the Farmers Market <br />at the parking lot of the City of Elk River's Westbound Liquor Store located at 13484 <br />185th Street. Two sections of the parking lot would be utilized as indicated on the <br />attached map. <br />The Market consists of 12 vendors selling a variety of products including standard <br />vegetables such as sweet corn and carrots as well as more unique vegetables such as bok <br />Choy and egg plant. Fruits, smoothies, and flowers are examples of other products sold. <br />Compatibility with Surrounding Properties <br />The main impact on the area would be the potential for increased traffic from Farmers <br />Market shoppers. The parking lot has access off of 185th Ave which has a traffic light <br />controlled intersection with Highway 10. <br />Operation Information <br />• Hours of operation: 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. . <br />• Days Open: Thursdays <br />• Total time on property: From issuing of permit through September 24, 2009 <br />Number of Employees <br />• One Parks and Recreation staff directly supervises the Farmers Market. <br />• The vendors have approximately 24 people on site. <br />Number of Parkins Stalls Being Utilized/Removed <br />Eight parking stalls and 100 feet of curve as indicated on attached map. <br />Temporary Signage <br />A banner advertising the Farmers Market would be placed as indicated on the attached <br />map by the parking lot curve facing Highway 10. Only one sign would be utilized and <br />would remain up through the conclusion of the Market on September 24th, 2009. <br />Outdoor Storage <br />There would be no outdoor storage. <br />
