'ity of

ver

FROM:

DATE:

SUBJECT:

ITEM 5.9.

MEMORANDUM

Mayor & City Council

Pat Klaers, City Admi~j~tor~

August 5, 1996

Storm Drainage - 4th and Norfolk

Councilmember Farber has requested that this item be put on the agenda for
discussion. During the brief and heavy rain that the city experienced on
Saturday, July 27, there was some flooding in the neighborhood around the
intersection of 4th Street and Norfolk Avenue. This is not a new experience,
but one that seems to be getting progressively worse. The drainage issue is
somewhat complex as it is a mixture of Highway 10 and city street surface
water runoff that is causing problems.

The city engineer and street/park superintendent have visited the site and
are looking at alternatives to solve to this drainage problem. One solution
currently being evaluated is directing the water from this area into the Main
Street system. On Monday there will be a verbal report to the council from
the engineer and street/park superintendent on the status of this drainage
problem and possible solutions.

13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
