~ITEM 5.5.*~ ity of MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: Mayor & City Council Bruce West, Fire Chief August 1, 1996 Sending Elk River Assistant Chief to Fire Suppression Rating Schedule Seminar The Elk River Fire Department will be preparing for an Insurance Service Office (ISO) survey for our fire protection rating classification. The survey will be for late 1997 or early 1998. The last survey to be completed for the Elk River Fire Department was done in January, 1991. Normally a rating is completed every seven years unless a request is made for an earlier date. With the attendance at this seminar, we will receive all the information needed to prepare our fire department for the next rating survey. We will be able to complete a pre-survey of our strengths and weaknesses, and where improvements need to be completed, prior to the actual ISO on-site survey. I will be sending Rob Dreissig, Assistant Chief of the Elk River Fire Department. Rob will head the committee that will prepare the Fire Department for the ISO on-site survey. This seminar will provide Rob with the information required to prepare our department for the next ISO Fire Protection Rating Survey.
