These amounts cover items since <br />the last write-offs, which were through November. Attached is the list of the write-offs, <br />totaling $38,725.32. There are two separate lists presented, and are discussed below. <br />One list (March 2009 Write-Offs- Collections) represents amounts that will be written off <br />and have been sent to our collection service, Advantage Collection Agency, to further <br />pursue. Most items are written off due to moving out and unable to locate, and some are <br />refusals to pay. <br />The other list (November 2008 Write-Offs- NO Collection) are items that we cannot <br />collect due to bankruptcy or foreclosure, no guarantor information on file, no one to bill, <br />or general cleanup of small amounts. As a reminder, there are some items on this other <br />list that are identified as "property owners", and these are the ones that are in the category <br />"no one to bill". These amounts result from properties where someone moved out and <br />didn't let us know. <br />The prior quarter (fourth quarter 2008) write-off amounts totaled $39,898.05. Staff <br />recommends that the Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission accept this listing for the <br />first quarter of 2009. <br />Thank you. <br />
