~,9NUA/~~ ZQ~9 Meeting was called to order at 8AM and was held in the Bluffs Community Room. Treasurer's report: Jim reported that there is $2887.26 in our treasury. Secretary's Report: Was approved. Old Business: City Update: Annie is attending a class today and was unable to attend the meeting. She asked that we remind everyone of the meeting on Jan 22°d from 9 to 10:30AM, addressing the Retail Trade Analysis for 2006. The Chamber of Commerce and The City of Elk River are working together to present the Analysis. The meeting will look at how Elk River Compares to other communities in Sherburne County. They will show what people are shopping outside of the community for and what things that they are shopping here for. The brick work on one side of the intersection of Jackson and Main Street has been redone. Comments were that it would be helpful if the signage was better on Highway 10 and Main Street when the intersection is closed so that people don't have to do a u-turn or have to turn right on Jackson and left on 10 again and then left again across traffic to get back to Main Street. The Historic Downtown Elk River Sign by the Chamber is in limbo. It appears that if we try to improve or replace it, we will need to get a sign permit and it will have to be moved farther away from the property line and the highway. Our next idea is to see if we have a nice sign made according to the City and MnDots specifications and donate it to the City of Elk River -will they have more leeway in where it can be put. Jim provided us with the following list of Rivers Edge Members whose dues are current: Accuity Capital Group, LLC, Andy's on Main, The Bank of Elk River, Edward Jones, Elk Dental Center, Elk River Chiropractic PA, First National Bank of Elk River, The Houlton Investment Company, Kemper Drug, Uniquely Your Market Interior Design. New Business: Valentines Day: We should try to put together a downtown Valentines Day promotion. Possibly do an ad. We will discuss again at our January Meeting. Swans in the River by the Park: Tony suggested that we look into seeing if we could get the swans to hang out in the River by Downtown. The swans could attract people to the Rivers Edge Commons Park. The water usually stays open because of the current. Not as warm as water in Monticello. Would have to talk to DNR Other: The Bead Bag is closing The Meeting was adjourned at 9AM
