Elk River
Munici~al Utilities
13069 Orono arkway
Elk River, MN 55330
763.441.2020
Education /Seminar Report
Name⢠Troy Adams
Dates Attended: June 12-14, 2006
Date: August 18, 2006
Location: Madison, WI
Title of education /seminar: Overcurrent Coordination of Utility Distribution Systems
Organization Sponsoring Education /Seminar: University of Wisconsin -Madison
Why did the employee choose to attend?:
It was recommended by Bryan Adams P.E., ERMU General Manager, that I attend this
course to get an overview of the industry and overcurrent coordination.
What information was learned by attending?:
The course gave an overview and introduction to radial distribution topology,
components and reliability. The class was comprised of both new and experienced
engineers, technicians, and linemen from all walks of the utility industry. It was a
valuable experience discussing protection equipment selection, fuse coordination, and
system design with all these people. There were many differing opinions fueling
discussion. I walked away with a much better understanding of the utility industry and
what we as utility employees are really here for. Also, I got experience
selecting/coordinating fuses both by computer and by hand using graphs. The concepts
learned during this course have been immediately beneficial to me at ERNIU.
Was information conveyed to supervisor and co-workers ant to who?:
The information was discussed with Bryan and Glenn Sundeen.
Employee Signature
