Accept Commissioner Paige Resignation and appoint a new Ice Arena • <br />Commission Representative. <br />Director of Parks and Recreation, Bill Maertz shared two options. First, to <br />:appoint a new representative or second, to wait until a new commissioner <br />was selected and allow them to have an option to be the Ice Arena <br />Commission with the second option being the better of the two. <br />5. Open Mike -None <br />6. Recreation Manager's Report -Steve Benoit <br />Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit shared items of interest including the summer <br />Playground Adventure Program, Sports Camps and the Fallen Oak Off-Road <br />Duathlon. <br />Mr. Benoit shared the Senior Center and Ice Arena staff reports. <br />7. Action/Discussion Items <br />7.1.A. Land Fill End Use <br />Director of Parks and Recreation, Bill Maertz shared that Waste Management has • <br />applied fox a permit to expand the Elk River Landfill. As part of this process they <br />have submitted some alternative end use concepts.. <br />Discussion took place regarding the three different end use plans representatives <br />from Waste Management presented. <br />Director of Parks and Recreation, Bill Maertz stated that there should be a workshop <br />in September to further discuss the options in detail. <br />8. Information/Update Items <br />8.1.A Community Events - National Night Out <br />Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit shared that National Night Out was held at Lions <br />Park in collaboration with Elk River Police Department, Elk River Fire Department, <br />District 728 Community Education, Sherburne County Public Health, Minnesota <br />State Troopers, YMCA, Target Corporation, Boys and Girls Club and our own <br />department. There were over 700 participants who attended this free event. <br />8.2.A. Department Updates -Parks Web Pages Update <br />Planner/Park Planner, Chris Leeseberg shared the updates and changes made to the • <br />cities web site and showed how some of the features worked. <br />
