However, we have now reached the point where the costs we are absorbing <br />require a rate adjustment so that we can continue to provide the high level of service and reliable <br />electricity our customers expect. These adjustments are something we only consider when we <br />absolutely must," says Connexus Energy CEO, Rick Newland. <br />Effective April, a typical <br />residential customer who uses <br />750 kWh of electricity per <br />month can expect to pay <br />approximately four dollars more <br />on their monthly bill. Also in <br />April, the Power Cost <br />Adjustment (PCA) will be <br />reduced to zero. The PCA was <br />implemented several years ago <br />when wholesale power prices <br />began to fluctuate. <br />Why do wholesale power prices <br />continue to climb? It's a <br />combination of the growing <br />demand for electricity and the <br />need for new generation and <br />transmission Facilities. According <br />to Newland, the price Connexus <br />pays for electricity has risen by <br />Electricity is a value <br />Electricity remains a bargain. We've done this by reducing costs in every area <br />of our operations." <br />Newland adds that Connexus Energy's rates remain comparable to, if not lower than, <br />surrounding utilities.
